It's no mystery, times are tough for the motorcycle industry in nearly every corner of the globe. It's eras like these that reward those individuals with the passion and determination to further not only their own experiences, lives and livelihoods - but those in their community as well. Keeping a quality periodical which represents the people, businesses, talent and other organizations of the adventure motorcycling world benefits everyone on all levels and every scale of involvement. Finding fresh material from all nationalities, ages, sexes and types of adventure riders is our number one concern at AdvMoto and we’d like to encourage folks to contribute. To aid this process, some general submission guidelines follow. Articles: Ride Reports, Features, Columns AdvMoto is constantly looking for unique, thoughtful and well illustrated stories for publication. All photos MUST BE AT LEAST 300DPI and professional quality. Ride reports which read like a daily log of your journey generally will not get considered. Telling a story involves interpreting the experience as a reflective conduit between the self, community and world - a world we explore on the most elegantly balanced form of motorized transportation. “Can I submit an article without photos?” NO! Professional quality photographs and other supporting information like tracks on satellite maps are an important part of any ride report since they contribute a tremendous amount to the story-telling and environmental information to the reader. The only section where photos are not necessary is in a short editorial columns. These columns often run between 500-600 words and are not illustrated, save perhaps a small image of the author. Check out Nasa’s WorldWind Poject for beautiful, 100% free, public-use 3D satellite imagery. The software accepts kmz/kml files. Product Reviews: We welcome queries on product reviews but please contact the magazine first before sending products. Books, DVD’s and CD’s are also welcome but, like all submissions to Adventure Motorcycle Magazine, we do not guarantee mention or publication. Profiles: Industry and Rider AdvMoto regularly runs interview features on individuals or organizations we feel are interesting and working hard to contribute to the motorcycling community. Industry Profiles generally covers individuals or organizations that promote riding and the industry. Rider Profiles are about folks like you and me, who have managed to fall in love with adventure riding and taken it to new heights, sometimes both personally or literally! If you would like to suggest a person, organization or business to be interviewed or covered by AdvMoto, please let us know! The Bread: While we wish the magazine had a perpetual fountain of dosh running through its accounts, this is not the case with AdvMoto and many others at this point in time. Nevertheless, we do try to pay contributors what we can at a level commensurate with the quality of work being submitted on a case by case basis. If you’ve got mad skills, mad dreams and can take outrageous photos, please contact us with a writing sample and an outline of your ideas. We may be able to work out a small sponsorship or some gas/beer money for your journey. |
